The rainy day on Wednesday the 16th of May did not stop our Playgroup, Nursery 1 and Nursery 2 children from celebrating our annual Black and White Day. Our children came to school dressed in their different combinations of black and white outfits. A class gave a presentation of animals with the colours of the day, and discussed some important facts about the animals: Pandas eat bamboo, cows provide us with milk and Dalmatian dogs have a life span of 10 – 13 years. Another class dressed up as the animals they represented, and they gave a fun presentation of the animals’ sound and the movements displayed by the animals. There was also an interesting presentation on nouns, and how the children are surrounded by nouns that are black and white. The children also sang a song titled, “There are black and white nouns in your neighbourhood”.There was a rendition of the story of “The Ugly Duckling”, where the message was to be accomodating of all others regardless of their skin colour or ethnic differences. The children aswell as the parents certainly had a fun time at our last colour day of the session.
